Yet another start!

Oh the excitement of starting a new project.  The only problem is I am one of those people who like to have a few projects on the go at any one time so it takes me a while to actually finish them (are you still waiting for the ta dah on the patchwork quilt, won't be long).
The clocks are due to go back soon and the evenings will be drawing in so this gives me more of an opportunity to get out the knitting needles, I just cannot bring myself to play with wool when the weather is hot.
As I'm a self taught knitter and I like to keep it simple I went on the hunt for a new project.
I found this lovely wool at a bargain price along with the pattern and I'll be making the scarf just like it says on the label. Here's hoping it only takes a couple of evenings and I'll be able to do a ta dah!!!!
Keep you posted.

Decisions, decisions!

Since moving into our home 11 years ago we've only managed to decorate the living room once.  The sofa desparetly needed replacing and we finally agreed on a style we both liked and felt comfy on.  With the sofa all ordered and a deadline of 7 weeks delivery we have finally pulled our finger out to get decorating.  The only problem now is what colour!  I'm a very plain jane where decorating is concerned and like beige walls then accesorise with colour.  This can then easily be changed from summer cools to winter warmth. Ian is wanting colour on the walls to make a change but I'm just not quite sure. No doubt a heated debate will begin, ooohhh   Decisions Decisions. I will be back with an updated report and photo's of the new room soon.

County Trials and a Farmers Market

Oh yes,  Proud mum moment coming up!  Jack has been playing cricket for 2 very short seasons and we were as proud as punch when we received an email to let us know that his club nominated him to go for County and District trials.  They were to be held one Sunday morning in a neighbouring town.  As we didn't want to put Jack under any undue pressure we decided to leave him at the ground to just get on with it.  2 hours on the field, 1 hour in the nets and 1 hour in the classroom, then a 24 hour wait to see if he was selected.  Sadly the answer was no, but we are so so proud of his achievements, he has done this all on his own merit and dedication to the game and hopefully the door will not be closed for him to try again next year.

So whilst Jack was at the trials myself and Ian poodled off to the town and was pleasantly surprised to find a farmers market taking place.  OOohhh, all the home made goodness right before my eyes.  The jam and marmalade were delicious so we bought some to take home. (I am wanting to make my own next year)
would be rude not to have some bread too!!!

and look at the wonderful cauliflowers - yum yum

and we were even treated to some music from the local Morris Dancers, sadly they were having a cup of tea and a break so it was only the accordinist who entertained us.
I've decided that we should support our local Farmers Market more so will be investigating when it is held and go to buy some scrummy fresh produce soon.

Hope your day is full of fun!

Best Friends.........

10 years ago I said a sad farewell to this girl as she left for a new life down under.  Obviously we have kept in contact via emails, facebook and telephone calls but boy was it good to see her again.  She is one of my best friends - Nut. Nut by name and Nut by nature.  I cannot even describe the fun we used to have all those girly years ago.  One of the best memories I have is one Boxing day we decided to dress up as Nun's and go out on the town.  What a night, so much fun and mad.  We worked together for over 5 years and partied hard! Truth be known as soon as we walked into a bar you could hear the gasps that the gruesome twosome were out on the town.
I was so happy when I received an invite to a grand reunion as Nut was back in Blighty visiting with her family.  Even though it was only a short gathering we had a good chin wag and meeting up with so many other people I've not seen for years was great.  When the party came to an end my vow to Nut is that in 5 years time I will go and visit her in Australia. You heard it here first.
and just because I cannot go without leaving another picture here are my two handsome men  (and for the record no I do not let my son drink, he wanted to look even more grown up and cool.)
Speak soon.

Jolly Jaunt #3

Oh what a lucky girl I've been this summer.  A family trip, and singles trip and now a couples trip.  I'm quite liking this trip milarky :-)   We've been wanting to do an adult camping trip for a while now and decided to take ourselves off to Poole in Dorset with our friends Sarah and Neil.  Due to work commitments we only managed to stay for a day and half but we managed to pack alot of things into 36 hours.

After making ourselves comfy at the campsite here we went into Poole for an early evening stroll.  I loved Poole, it's a big enough town to have a good selection of shops and the marina is lovely without being too posh.  I think what I liked was it felt english without being too cosmopolitan, iykwim.
After a cosy nights sleep and hearty bacon butties made by Neil our first whistle stop was to Weymouth.  A lovely traditional British seaside town.  Why am I so happy to visit these bucket and spade places is beyond me but I am so proud to be British and very proud Councils around the land are starting to re-invest money to make these towns more appealing and traditional warms my heart.

The weather was beautiful, I think Mr Sunshine decided to be kind to us Brits.  We stopped and watched the Punch & Judy show on the beach......
perfected our self portrait
had a little rest
and went to do a little shopping

From Weymouth we headed over to Durdle Door.

Oh My God, I was gob smacked just how beautiful it is.  We only managed to walk half way down the cliff.  We have made a promise to come back and spend more time here and to go on the beach. It is a long walk down and with only a small handful of people managing to go down it'll be lovely to relax and have a picnic. Perhaps next year!  From here we went to Lulworth Cove, and what a let down, just a few ice cream shops, a small harbour and no beach.  I've crossed that one off my list as seen, done and no need to go back!
Time was fast running out now, so we headed back into Poole for fish and chips (sadly minus the fish for me ), then visted a few shops that closed early yesterday and then made our trip back home.
We loved our little jolly jaunt and will definitley be heading back this way soon.

Quick Stitch!!!

I've always wanted a posh peg bag but the price tags are just too big for my little purse so having scoured the internent (yet again) for inspiration my trusty Brother sewing machine managed to whip up this little gem one morning, and on the plus side it has used up more of the material I purchased a few weeks ago.  I am really chuffed with my bag and looking to making one or two for christmas presents.  Do you think people would mind having a hand made present or do you think they would think it's naff?  I know I would be happy but then I love all things hand made but for some people I just don't know?  mmmm will have to think this through a little more.

And just so you can see my bag up close and personal here's a up close and personal shot. (I love the fact I've never made thse flowers before and with a great tutorial that I found on t'internet I was rather pleased with the result).  Now back to sewing the patchwork quilt which I initially bought the fabric for.  I'm nearly there and will do a ta dah reveal once finished.
Catch you soon.
